Edenbrooke

Happy Saturday my friends!!

Do you love a good English romance? Well then this book is for you!! Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson, which I would rate for ages 14+ (girls specifically). This book is very special because it is part of the "Proper Romance" collection. When you see that on top of the cover you know it is going to be clean, but it will make your heart go pity-pat.

This book is about a young English girl that goes to the country side to meet up with her twin sister. Along the way she runs into some trouble. With the help of an attractive stranger, her quick thinking and her wit, she makes it out alive and arrives to Edenbrooke. When she gets there, she is wrapped up in this new world and finds out what it means to be free!

I absolutely love love love this book. I started it at about 5 o'clock one Sunday evening and didn't put it down until 4 am Monday morning. This book completely takes you in and makes you feel like you are there at Edenbrooke!

Something that made it really unique was that the story got started right from the get-go. Not a lot of set up or back story. Don't get me wrong, Donaldson does a fantastic job of creating the characters and their story, but she does it in a way that is quick- tempo-ed and gets you going right from page one!

Amazon has it priced at $9.76 for paperback and Barnes and Noble has it at $10.99 for paperback. And I must admit it is worth every penny!! Donaldson has other books as part of the "Proper Romance" collection which I will talk about in later posts!

Now, go out and enjoy reading!!!

From the Mixed-up Files of Basil E. Frankweiler

Hello Friends!!!

This post is about one of my favorites: From the mixed-up files of Basil E. Frankweiler by  E.L Konigsburg, which I would rate for older elementary school ages, like 3-6 specifically. This book is one of the most adorable books I have read in a very long time. I remember reading it in elementary school and finding it really boring and confusing. However, reading it as an adult has completely changed my view.

It's about two siblings that are sick of suburbia so they travel to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. They sneak around the Met in the day with other school groups...hiding in plan sight... and camp in the bathroom at night so they don't get caught by the security guard. Life is good for these two siblings until they discover a statue of an angle with a mysterious past. They follow the clues that lead to a very wealthy woman who sold the angle to the museum in the first place.

One thing that helped me understand the story line better, and I would recommend to any of you, would be to read one of the very first pages. It looks likes its nothing so at first I passed over it. Then I saw it and skimmed through it really quick and soon realized that it is a letter from Basil E. Frankweiler to her attorney that later become very important to know as you read the book.

If this book seems interesting, which it soooo is, Amazon sells it in paper back for $5.72 and Barnes and Noble (where I got my copy) is $7.99 in paperback.

It would be a great book for a classroom library, reading group for any age or perfect to read right before bedtime with mommy or daddy.

Anyways, hope this helps!

Enjoy reading!!!!!

The start of something GREAT!

Why hello new friend!!!

I have wanted to start this blog for a while now. I love to read! I love sitting down with a good book and being completely transported into another world. You can go anywhere or be anyone through the power of a good book. Books are magic and I just want to share a little bit of my knowledge with you!

My family and friends, knowing that I'm such a book worm, are constantly asking me for recommendations on a good read and this blog is to help them, and all my new friend, find a good book!

I want this blog to be for all ages. I have read literally thousands... ok maybe that's an exaggeration.. hundreds of books for all ages and in all genres! There haven't been many books in my life that I haven't just fallen in love with!! :)

I will be giving these reviews with my Christian beliefs as an influence so keep that in mind when you read them.

I'm so incredibly excited to start this adventure! Now, get some hot coco, a nice fuzzy blanket and get ready to find the next book for your "to-read" list!!!
