The Austen Escape

My library does a year long reading challenge with different prompts. One of the prompts was "connected to Jane Austen". According to the prompt, 2025 is Jane Austen's 250th birthday!  Since I have read all her published work I decided to try a "based on" type book. I had heard great things about Katherine Reay so I decided to start there. I will tell you that she didn't disappoint and I will be reading more from her!

The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay is about two friends who travel to the English country side and participate in a Austen inspired week at one of the country estates. While there one of the friends loses her memory and believes she is really in a Jane Austen novel!

I felt like this book was so fresh and I loved the mix of present day and Austen Era references. The side cast of characters was great and even the love interest was sweet. The romance was totally clean with only a small kiss at the end, if I'm remembering correctly. I was thoroughly impressed.

If you love Miss Austen, the English country side, a sweet friendship and a cute boy thrown in for fun, then this should be on your "to-read- next" list!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Let me know down in the comments.

Now, go and READ!
