I have read a handful of Heather B. Moore novels and she is definitely one of my favorites for Historical Fiction. I have even met her in person recently and she is a delightful person!
Her most recent novel is called Lady Flyer which is based on the life of Nancy Harkness Love who was a part of the first government funded female flight school and squadron of pilots during World War II. It was truly fascinating to learn about how female pilots got involved with the war efforts and how many hoops they had to jump through.
I have never read any of Heather B. Moore's romances so having that as part of this book was really sweet and refreshing. I loved the history and the research that was put into this book. I loved the friendships and the hardships that were mentioned because it really stressed working around the problems to get the outcome you want. It doesn't always happen in our timeframe, but it will happen if you keep working it.
I will say that in some parts it was a bit long and there were some feminist undertones, but I could look over those as part of the whole story because it was such an interesting part of our American history.
I really enjoyed this book and Heather B. Moore as an author! I hope you enjoy.
Now, go and READ!
