Frindle

I love Andrew Clements as an author. He writes stories that make kids instantly connect with what they are reading!

I have read a few of Andrew Clements books and find myself laughing out loud as I'm reading because he writes how kids act and think. I can see why he is such a popular author for middle grade.

Frindle is about words and how specific words come to represent specific things. Nick, our main character, doesn't understand why a pen has to be called a pen. Why is it called that? Who said it had to be pen? Why can't it be called frindle? Nick starts calling all his pens, I mean frindles, frindles. The teachers aren't amused, but they let it go as a phase. When all the other students start using frindles, things get out of control. Parents are called in, threats are made, teachers are upset. It even starts getting national attention. Nick just thought it would be an interesting experiment. He didn't mean for all this to happen.

Completely laugh-out-loud funny and an absolute must read for all ages. This would even be perfect for a read-a-loud for all my teacher and homeschooling friends!

I hope you enjoy.

Now, go and READ!
