Mrs. Pollifax Novels

When I grow up, I want to be Mrs. Pollifax! This 14 books series by Dorothy Gilman is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread! I loved each and every book and have them placed quite proudly on my book shelves as they are some of my favorites! 

Mrs. Pollifax is an older woman who is a little stuck in life. Oh sure, she has her local garden club, but her husband has been gone for years and her children and grandchild have their own lives and live far away. Mrs. Pollifax is depressed. When her doctor casually asks "if you could do anything what would you do" she instantly says "be a CIA agent, of course". (I'm not quoting directly from the book, just giving you an idea of the conversation). 

Mrs. Pollifax decides then and there in the doctors office that she is going to make that dream a reality. She heads off to Langley, VA to CIA headquarters and demands to see someone in charge. What happens from that brazen action, creates one of the best series I have ever read. We travel all over the world with Mrs. Pollifax and meet some of the best side characters with which you will instantly fall in love. When they reappear in later novels, you cheer because you know the gang is all back together. SO STININ' GOOD!!! 

These are meant for adult readers but completely appropriate for 16 year old's and up.. if they don't mind reading about a more mature lady and her ever present hats!
